Gillian Lionberger

From May 21 to July 25, 2023, I participated in a study abroad in Japan. I did the 9-credit summer program through Clemson University, which allowed me to explore, study, and work in various locations in Japan, including Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo. This program was broken down into three courses: a culture course, an intensive language course, and an internship. For the first week and a half, we travelled around Japan to experience and study various aspects of Japanese culture. We started in Kyoto and went to Kanazawa, Shirakawago, Takayama, Gero, Himeji, Hiroshima, and Miyajima. Once we finished travelling, we settled down in Osaka, near Minami Senri, to take an intensive language course with other international student via Kansai University. After we completed the language course, a few of us continued the program with an internship in Tokyo. I was placed at a fashion company called Prospere, where they handle fashion PR for high end brands and celebrities.
